I'm still working on this, you insensitive clod!
Ok, here is the beginnings to the inventions catgory... I hope you all like it.
I've been working on this cool idea for an explosive hand grenade. No, not a
real grenade, I'm not a terrorist! A reenactor's grenade, for simulated
battles. I am involved currently in the hobby of historical reenactments,
specifically World War II.
So here is the idea:
Get a bunch of the party popper firecrackers (the kind where you pull the
string and confetti pops out), take out the confetti, and the fuses.
Melt the plastic down and mold it into a grenade shaped ball, only with a bunch
of holes on the sides (you'll see why in a minute). Make sure that each
hole is the end of a small tube inside that is filled with some kind of
non-flammable powder or oatmeal. These tubes are then connected together
to the main cylinder in the middle of the grenade. Attach a priming
lever to the grenade that when released will act just like some of the real
grenades by activating a timed spring that will release and pull the fuse
which in turn blows through the central cylinder, out the tubes, and into the
air - making a simulated explosion. The grenade would need to be coated with
some kind of thin wax paper or something to give it the effect needed, but
all of that is minor details that can be worked out later.
So there is the idea... now I need to actually get the design down on paper,
and start building a prototype. When I get to that stage I'll take lots
of pictures, and update you on my progress.
