I got an email today from what appeared to be eBay customer service notifying me that I should update my eBay account. This is what the email looked like:

The URL listed above in the email does not work, but forwarded me to the following URL:

http://211.35.244.54:199/%69%6E%64%65%78%2E%68%74%6D

Beware! This is a scam! If you enter the information requested at the site above, you will no doubt have your identity stolen, and your bank accounts will be emptied! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REPLY TO OR ENTER ANY INFORMATION IN THE ABOVE SITE, OR ANY SITE ASKING FOR YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER OR BANK INFORMATION!

If you have received an email similar to this one, NOTIFY EBAY IMMEDIATELY by forwarding the entire email message with the Internet headers to spoof@ebay.com. You might also want to report it to your local FBI office.

This is the kind of scam that terrorists may use to fund their cowardly goals. Please be aware always of the kind of information that you provide online, and never EVER give out personal information of any kind without knowing for sure that the party you are giving said information to is trusted, and has a solid privacy policy.

Feel free to pass this information on in any way you can. This is my good citizen deed for today, its time for you to do your part and help save someone's identity.
